Winning start continues

Kettering travelled to Market Harborough for their first away game, against what was expected to be a fairly strong side. Things didn't get off to the best start when the MH captain came over to say that they'd had 4 drop out on the day, leaving them with only 8 players. After some cajoling of their 1st team, and borrowing our own first teamer Jack Bridges (who we cant thank enough for helping out), they managed to field a full 11, meaning the game could start.

Continuing on from last week, Kettering started strong, and their short passing game was working well, causing problems for Harboro' and giving plenty of chances, either not quite taken, or well saved by the opposition 'keeper. Eventually the pressure told, and the flood gates opened. Goals from George York (2), Adam Duell and Sam Depriscomeant we went into half time 4-0 with no real threat against our own goal.

The second half was somewhat poorer. The game was already won, and Kettering coasted a little, using the longer ball and playing a little more relaxed than they should have. This gave Harboro' the chance they wanted, and they took it very, scoring two goals of their own. Kettering did manage to sharpen up, and added another 2 goals their own through Matt Hill, and George York completing what is fast becoming a statutory hat-trick, to make the scoreline a more true reflection on the game.

Kettering will need to be make sure that they don't let their foot off the gas next week against what we expect to be a strong March team in the first league game of the season.

Special mention goes to James Hogg, voted man of the match for a stellar performance from right half. A position he has never played before, but is likely going to make his own!
