Goal drought continues…..

There is always something refreshing about a 530 start in Peterborough. OK, that’s a lie. There is nothing to like about a 530 start ( that is actually nearer to 545!) and results in us getting home about 930. Especially when it’s 0-0.
With a team with our age profile the youngsters should be in bed by the time the game finished and the old boys should be being tucked by their carers with a warm milky drink.
Highlights were few and far between and a draw was about right. It was definitely darker in the second half - floodlights not as good as ours - and also if it being dark and late wasn’t bad enough it started to rain in the second half.
We actually had the better chances in the first half. Ellis, who must be due a goal soon had a couple of chances and skipper Paul kicked one in. They threatened but Tight Man Dean was at his customary 7.5-8/10 to repel invaders.
They probably had the slightly better chances after the break. Barry made a smart ish save from a short but other than that we could have probably gone to the bar and declared a 0-0 well before the end. On a positive Brookesy came through the game in one piece. Adam was man of the match for being ‘solid’ and we aren’t allowed to vote for TightMan anymore.
The point sees us guaranteed 4th bottom and it was quite important after Bourne somehow beat Cam Uni ( no dodgy practices there then). We are now 4 points clear of Bourne and play them in the final game next week. Be interesting to see what we have for teas next week after the abject tea at Bourne earlier in the season.
More important can we score? It’s now been 5 weeks with no goal - with a bye week and a slip date we haven’t scored since 27th January. There is an expectation that North Northants council will declare a public holiday next time we score.

Remember it’s a late bar next week with the theme of Paris and the Olympics so get an outfit ready.
