Disjointed Performance

Kettering managed to put out what on paper was their strongest team of the season for this home game against one of the top teams in the league. Ashby have been scoring for fun so far this season and Kettering were hoping to put a dent in their confidence.
The match started favourably for Kettering with one of the Ashby cars delayed resulting in them being short at the start. Yet it was Ashby who applied the initial pressure putting Kettering on the back foot from the off. However it was Kettering who managed to sneak into the lead with a well worked goal from the back through the middle to Ollie Smith playing on the right side of the midfield. He drove into the 'D' and crossed it for Simon to put the finishing touch.
Kettering might have gone two up if not for the umpires deciding to deny the second goal from a short corner. Instead it was Ashby who managed to get the second goal of the game. This coming not long after their final car arrived and their full contigent of players were available. The half then turned into a fairly even contest with chances going at either end before Ashby managed to sneak a second goal.
Kettering went into the half time break feeling slightly aggrieved but well in the contest. If they could tighten up the midfield and finish off the chances they were creating then they might have a chance.
This was not to be as it was Ashby who scored first in the second half capitalising on a loose ball from Kettering in the Ashby half which was quickly moved up the field and into the Kettering goal.
Kettering did manage to get a second goal soon after this but this proved to be their last one as Ashby continued to take their chances often from loose passes in their own half and eventually ran out deserving 6-2 winners.
