The win before Christmas followed by the Christmas break itself could have been an opportunity for Kettering to push forward with their stumbling season. But the visit of Nottingham Players to Kettering proved to be a return to the ground with a bump. For the first time this season all three men's teams fielded more than the requisite 11 players. For the 2s this was a squad of 13 players including a captain who probably should not have been running around. Although Kettering showed much more endeavour and attacking prowess than in the last encounter against Nottingham it was the visitors who took command of the fixture, scoring regularly throughout both the first and second halves. This detracted from what could been seen as a positive effort by Kettering who on occasion moved the ball around well. They just didn't have the same level as their opponents who finished their chances with aplomb. The final result of 8-0 to Nottingham did reflect their superior ability but hid Ketterings effort.
