Points on the board for a solid start to the season

For the first game of the new season Kettering men's 2's headed to St Neot's for their first game in the new league 5NW. The game started well with Kettering pushing back for the off. Possession was maintained and attacking chances were left begging to show the opposition we meant business.
A very competitive game was clearly evident to both sides and it was going to go the full length of time for a clear decision on the goal line. With Kettering playing so beautiful hockey and many attacks from the centre forwards but unable to quite seize the moment and smash the back board for a goal.

Many minutes went by with lots of attack and occasionally seeing the defense do a solid job to put a halt to the opposition and turn over the ball. One crucial play was made with a quality pass to Don Coleman who fired the ball over line. A well deserved goal for the team and put kettering in good stead for the rest of the game.

A few short corners went begging as Nick Cusk narrowly missed the left post and again just missing the top left corner with a drag flick, If only it had gone in.

Halve time saw us leading 1-0 with still the game to close out kettering took to the pitch for more of the same and continued to dominate most of the play with some lovely hockey. Dominic Cusk played a great game but was still left seeking his maiden goal to the season as his efforts kept falling short of the goal line.
During the end of the second half some sustained pressure from a desperate St Neots side saw a series of short corners which near the end of the match saw them put one in. the score was now drawn and time running out Kettering attacked again with serious intent but couldnt quite find the goal.

Time up and a draw at 1-1 but all players felt a very good game of hockey was had by all and lots of positive thoughts ready for the next game against Cambridge City at home. Man of the match was joint between Don Coleman & Dominic Cusk
