George York strikes again with another top goal!

Kettering men's 2's started well in the first half playing some outstanding hockey. each week taking their new skills from training to the game and showing it pays off to train hard. Kettering were dominating the possession and passing well amongst all players with great play from all on the team. Many chances and shots on target were rifled at the oppositions goal but still left seeking the first goal.

Short corner time with Nick Cusk stepping up to the plate to find the goal but to no avail as the ball was inches too high above the back board. As play resumed in a similar fashion of kettering playing very well and creating chances the ball was played neatly down he right side through paul brooker and geoff elliot of which geoff passed a great ball into the D for George york to smash it home for another goal to add to his growing tally.

This left only a matter of minutes left on the clock till half time and was easily defended ot by kettering who were looking so promising for their first elusive win. A quick team talk with coach austin who made the journey to see how the team were performing and draw up the next set of drills for training. The second half resumed and kettering again started strong but Peterborough had clearly changed tactics slightly to give them a more aggresive passage of play. It was working as they were more frequently finding their way through to Ketterings 25yard box. Kettering defended well with good performances from all of the defensive players.

As the match continued on and the clock counted down kettering could feel the pressure especially with a few short corners from the opposition. Unfortunately the opposition scored and drew the scoreline from a well worked bit of open play. Kettering tried again with many more chances with Ned wilson getting very near to a wipe out from their goalkeeper but couldnt quite slot the ball in. with minutes left on the clock Kettering were defending frantically. With a free hit outside the D to the opposition as the passage of play as a minute was called as being left in the game the ball found the goal after what seemed a very lengthy last minute. as the ball crossed the line the final whistle blew and kettering felt very robbed of what was a win come draw and points on the board. Onwards and upwards as the team continues to develop well each week and George York takes another man of the match.
Next week is a home game against Louth.
