Kettering men's 2's played top of the league team Cambridge South at home, the game was very competitive end to end with many chances had for both teams but no success from either.
The first half started well with a positive 5 mins pushing the opposition back but no early goals were had only a few shots on target. The pressure then reversed to see Kettering defending hard for the next 10 minutes or so. The Kettering defence put in a solid shift and kept the cambridge side from taking any real goal worthy shots only a few scrappy shots out wide. The first half continued much the same with an end to end fashion with both teams trying hard to put in a goal. Kettering won a few short corners but the routines simply were not coming together, a very dry pitch led to some bouncy push outs making tough work for the receiving players. Unfortunately none of the short corner efforts went in and the first half finished with a solid performance all round.
The second half saw a continued threat from both sides hunting for goals. Ketterings defence continued to put in a great performance silencing any attack from cambridge with some solid performances from ketterings youngsters Ed Jennings and George York. The best performance and man of the match was goalkeeper Matthew Coe who made some impressives saves keeping the score kept at 0-0 but most impressively not crumbling under pressure when faced with a one on one against a cambridge forward. The game came to a close with kettering awarded a short corner on full time but still could not find a goal in the dying minutes. Next week Kettering are away to Peterborough 8th's and look to continue their point scoring fortunes.
