Kettering put in dominant performance.

On a cold Saturday under floodlight Kettering were up for an attacking game after some strong defensive games of late. With youth on our side upfront and experience to instruct there was a job to be done in this game. Kettering found their feet and passed the ball around attacking down the wings, good passing by Sam Deprisco, Jason Clarke and Adam Duell linked the midfield to the forwards well. A strong press and an overload allowed for many chances on goal for George York and Jack Bridges. There was tension in the air for how many goals were hitting the post or going just wide!

An then it clicked, George York scored the first goal after 15 minutes of strong attacking play and the goals then rolled in. Brilliant crosses in from Paul Brooker just needed a simple deflection in. Ben York's first ever goal eventually came after some good passing from the siblings gave a rebound shot through the goalkeepers legs. Before half time there was a positive vibe on the pitch, superb passing down the line by Tom Ward allowed pressure on COP8's defence. A steal of a goal from George York off an excellent hit by Sam Deprisco ended the half 3-0.

With plenty of confidence at half time and a chill in the air, the team were eager to get back onto the pitch to especially those at the back who were having a quieter game. A drive in to the D from Nathan Thomas on the right and a pull back to top D to skipper Jason Clarke secured a 4th goal. Transferring around the back from Nick Cusk and Geoff Elliot saw excellent passing play creating further opportunities going forward.Matthew Coe's only real clearance in goal saw a daring kick to the top of the D, he soon woke up and cleared the ball to be used as an extra transfer pass across the pitch out wide. A powerful strike from Sam Deprisco after a lot of possession in our attacking half saw a further goal scored. This was shortly followed by some good leads from Jack Bridges allowing Sam Deprisco to have a shot across goal for Nathan Thomas to attack and score. After an attacking piece of play there were as always tired legs occurring and gaps in the press meant the defence became busier. A final goal finished with a cricket like action taken by George York in the air, secured a 7-0 win.

A good performance by all and Man of the Match was awarded jointly to the York brothers for their part to play in the score line of 4 goals between them, debut goal from Ben York and hat trick for George York he has so eagerly been wanting. Looking forward to next weeks game and hopefully continuing our journey up the league table.
