Kettering 2's fail to take advantage of what should have been a winner.

Kettering travelled to Ely City for a game they were well up for after having to sit out last weekend due to a conceded game from last weeks opposition. Something that could have been a factor in Ketterings performance today.

The first half saw kettering instantly show their dominance from the initial whistle. Making some lovely passing play between all players and within a few minutes the shots on goal started, unfortunately no early goals at this point. Kettering continued to dominate the first half with many more shots on goal from all of the forward attacking players but simply could not get it in the back of the goal. Ketterings defence found themselves having to not do much defensive work and joined in with the attacking play.

Halftime whistle was blown to a very disappointed kettering side having felt they had all the possession and endless shots on goal to no joyous celebrations. Ed Jennings made his defensive debut for Kettering 2's and definitely earnt his place with an outstanding performance at right half both attacking up the line and covering back to make some great tackles. This performance earned him man of the match.

The second half saw much of the same but with a spirited Ely city side who could sniff a steal of victory. However Kettering pressed on and continued to shoot on goal. Ned wilson got the closet with an unbelievable near miss as the goal keeper got a lucky save by the skin of his teeth.
A handful of short corners where won by Kettering who tried every routine in their arsenal in desperation for a goal unfortunately still no joy. Mattthew Coe in goal had a quiet game until a break through from Ely City saw a player go one on one with Matt who easily put stop to that and saved kettering from a conceding.

Many more shots on goal but still nothing which saw out the game. On the flip side its another point added to the tally and kettering will take the positives from this game in some brilliant passing play and great composure ready for next weeks home game against Bourne Deeping.
