Kettering played St Ives 3 this weekend and after a solid performance last weekend to Louth they had high hopes. The first half started strong and a dominant first half performance as put in.
Highlight was a great play up the field and scoring from no less than 5 passes. Nathan Thomas made a great deflection top of the D to Sam Deprisco who put in a diving one handed tap across goal to score Despite the goal keeper wiping him out and getting lucky not to Recieve a card.
St Ives soon came back and scored after some poor defense that saw men free on the post for a simple goal to take it 1 - 1. Half time came round and it was all still to play for.
Second half Kettering had a few chances with short corners but failed to convert. With a few solo runs from Ricky Payne , Jason Clarke and Sam Deprisco still no attack could end in a goal. Kettering played a good 10mins for the second half but began to fatigue and so performance dropped. This let another easy goal in and Kettering go one down and left Kettering with their heads down and fighting to keep in the game.
Man of the match went to Ricky Payne for a quality performance making mince meat of the opposition defence as he ran the line ball and baseline with finese several times. Something we look to see more of.
Next week's game is at home against March town at 12:00. Hopefully a better game will be had.
