Kettering Mens 2's entertained a Louth team having to make one of the longest journeys of their season. With both sides being somewhat short on players (Louth having a bare 11; Kettering managing a single sub), a tiring game was expected.
Kettering started in the usual fashion, playing a strong passing game, moving the ball around and working hard off the ball. However, some good play by the Louth back line combined with some fairly relaxed play form Kettering made breaking through more difficult than maybe it should have been.
Eventually, Kettering managed to break down the Louth defence, scoring a strike from a short corner, and managing to score a second before the half.
At half time the message was clear. Kettering needed to get their passes off quicker and stop running at the Louth defenders. And Kettering obliged. After scoring within two minutes of the restart, the Louth players knew they had to push forward to try to get back in the game. This, coupled with tiring legs and Ketterings increased intensity opened the flood gates for another 8 goals. 11-0 final score with goals from George York (5), Andy Bull (2), Sam Deprisco (2), Adam Duell (1) and Jason Clarke (1, stealing the double hat trick from George York!!)
Next week Kettering host another long distance traveling team in Horncastle, who managed to beat March Town 7-2.
