Clueless Kettering crumble in 4 - 1 loss.

In significantly warmer conditions than last week, KM2s arrived at the pitch with hopes of a result against a side that conceded 30 over the course of 2 games last season against KM1s.
Spalding pushed-back and the game began. For 10 minutes Kettering seemed on top, although a damning lack of shots kept the score at 0 - 0. Spalding began to swarm and managed to grab a goal; from that point on Kettering heads went down and the standard of play was dire. Like last week, Kettering were making the other team look good. Amazingly, Spalding didn't manage to capitalise on Kettering's lacklustre play and the first half ended 0 - 1.
The second half began and things seemed to pick up, there was some good play around the back, yet there was still a spark missing at the other end. New boy Max was having to work hard alongside his new team mates to prevent any more Spalding goals. Sadly, the defence's hard work was to no avail, with Spalding snatching two goals within minutes of each other. The first of the two came from a tidy short corner and the next came from Kettering being robbed of possession from the restart and quick, driving play leading to a shot that went straight through defender Neil Freeman like he was a hologram and into the goal. Spalding's icing on the cake was a forth goal that put any vague and unrealistic dreams of a comeback to death. However, for 10 minutes of the half Kettering seemed more like their old selves - Jason Clarke even managed to grab a consolation goal to put the score at 1 - 4 with a great volley that smashed into the side-netting. The marauding tackles of Michael Lavender that had been prevalent throughout the game resulted in both a green and a following yellow card, giving him time to reflect on his actions (which he has profusely apologised for).
No further goals came about and the game ended with a depressing final whistle. The false dawn of the first few games of the season has now led to KM2s' fourth straight loss. Hopefully something will click before long and Kettering will get their old mojo and swagger back...
