The wrong Nigel gets our stand in skipper a bit revved up.

The match got off to a surreal start - the Kettering skipper saw all the people queuing up to see Nigel and promptly stripped off. When we told him it was Nigel Farage they wanted to see, Mr Parkes put his shirt back on!

Kettering dominated early possession but couldn't convert that into goals. Totally against the run of play, a through ball caught the home defence napping and Chesterfield went ahead.
Kettering kept pressing and forced a series of short corners. Rich Middleton had a powerful shot saved and then Simon Chambers hit the post after a well-worked routine. However, the half-time score was 0-1.

At the start of the second half, a defensive mix-up gifted the visitors a decisive second goal.
Kettering kept playing in the face of adversity, namely some over-enthusiastic and agricultural tackling from Chesterfield. Combined with the antics of a particularly nasty centre-forward, it was astounding not to see any yellow cards during the match.
The youthful Kettering forwards nearly were rewarded when a deft through ball from Tony Heath was hit first time by George York. The Chesterfield goalie was forced to make a good save to maintain his clean sheet.

Kettering never got the rub of the green in the opposition circle and to round-off the day, Chesterfield added a third near the end of the match.

All in all, a good performance from Kettering and a scoreline that flattered the visitors.
