A goal from Tim McDowell (good as it was) on his comeback wasn't enough to inspire Kettering to victory.
The game began with 2 quick goals by Buxton. A short-corner conceded by Nigel Parks was stopped on the goal-line by his foot and a penalty was given. It crept in the bottom corner, sending the goalie the wrong way. Another penalty went Kettering's way but was saved, much to the annoyance of penalty-taker Simon Chambers and leaving the score at half time 3-0.
Another Buxton goal began the second half. Then a great team-goal orchestrated by Jack Bridges and the rest of the midfield set Tim McDowell for a wonderful goal. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to resurrect Kettering and a final Buxton goal put the nail in the coffin.
