After our opposition cancelled on us last minute we rearranged a game vs Cannock 1/2s. With both Cannock teams being 1 or 2 leagues above us we new the game would be very tough and we would have to be at our best. We started well getting a few penalty corners, but Cannock soon came back at us and it showed just how disciplined we were going to have to be in our positioning and marking. A great move down the right by Kettering put Liz Metcalfe in on goal who only narrowly missed after a last ditch tackle by Cannock just put Liz off. At half time the score was 0-0 and Kettering were feeling happy with their performance so far. In the second half as bodies started to get tired both teams made some silly mistakes with penalty corners being given away both ends. Beth Winfield made a great save deflecting the ball onto the crossbar and Kettering managed to keep a clean sheet. At the other end our forwards and mids were still working hard and and did produce some goal scoring opportunities with Patsy Starsmore-Young coming closest putting the ball narrowly wide. The game finished 0-0 and Kettering are feeling very positive about their performance.
