Kettering ladies 1st team succumbed to a 2-0 defeat to Nottingham Uni ladies in a tough game against some skilful players. The first Nottingham goal came from a penalty corner midway through the first half however the remainder of the half was fairly even between the teams. Good play by joint players of the match Linzi Webster and Jess Austin created chances and along with centre midfielder Kate Randle, kept the opposition midfield at bay. In the second half Nottingham piled on more pressure as Kettering allowed them too much possession and time on the ball. That pressure eventually culminated in a second Nottingham goal by an unmarked player on the back post. Good switching play between Webster and Cath Irvin created space up the right side of the pitch and good running by Alice Garnham and Isabel Ringrose provided some hope of a comeback, but the match ended with a second loss in the league for Kettering. Kettering look forward to the return of captain Laura Cave next week and hope to press on for their first league win away at Leek next Saturday.
