Kettering clicked to produce great team effort.

After last weeks draw against 3rd in the league Kettering knew that if we could produce the same individual quality but pair that with a better team performance we could get something against 2nd in the league as well. The match was pretty even from start to finish. As per most teams in this league the tackling and strength of the individuals in the opposition was feisty. This week however Kettering were up to the match. Our midfield all played together very well and kept us strong in tackling back as well as going forward, linking up with the forwards of Meg Forrader, Harriet Graham and Sienna McNeil, all of who ran a great deal during the game to close down the Notts Uni defence. Kettering almost took the lead in the middle of the first half from a Kate Randle strike from a penalty corner but unfortunately it crossed the goal line an inch too high even though it hit the top of the backboard. A great performance from Player of the Match, goal keeper Kate Metcalfe, kept Kettering in the game by pulling off an outstanding triple save in the middle of the second half, earning the applause from the whole of the Kettering team as well as the oppositions umpire for her efforts. The game ended 0-0 but Kettering were feeling good after a good team performance, a clean sheet and another point gained. Top of the league awaits us next week!
