Kettering win in a bid to get further up the table.

Now safe in the league Kettering could relax a little for this game. However we know that every team wants to win their final games and so putting in another good performance against Boots would be required. We started poorly with quickly conceding some penalty corners as we tried to cope with their skilful attackers. Luckily none of which came to any fruition for the opposition. Our passing through the pitch was occasionally poor and we felt under pressure for the majority of the first half. We did at times manage to get the ball up to our forwards but just couldn't get that final pass away to get any good shots on goal. The second half was a completely different storey. Our attacking play picked up greatly as we started to put good passes together to get the ball around their midfield defence and down the pitch. It also meant our forwards weren't as isolated when they received the ball, and so we put together some good attacking play around the D with mids and forwards combining well. Harriet Graham had the most success up front as she seemed to have the beating of their left back for most of the game. We also started to win a few penalty corners ourselves. The first of these came out to the top if the D for Kate Randle to strike home into the bottom left corner. At the other end we did conceded a few more penalty corners but some brilliant right post defending by Liz Metcalfe deflected the ball away from goal. This week she decided to use her stick instead of her face, which was far less scary for everyone. Kettering managed to keep their lead for the rest of the game by staying in the opposition's half for the majority, earning another 3 points. This leaves us still 6th in the league but now on joint points with 5th place. With 2 games to go Kettering are looking to earn those 6 points available and see how far up the league we can travel.
