Kettering end on a win and have a lot to celebrate.

Last game of the season and Kettering took on Tamworth. Kettering started well getting the ball up into the Tamworth half and we didn't have to wait long for the first goal. Some lovely passing play down the right hand side of the pitch led to a tap in for Linzi Webster at the left post. It had seemed too easy for Kettering and maybe this meant that our concentration slacked a little. Not long afterwards one of Tamworth's long hits through found a forward not marked at the top of the D and she managed to take the ball forward and place it around our keeper and into the goal. For a short while Kettering seemed to be off the ball a little as passing went slightly wrong and the ball got stuck in midfield. In one play we did get the ball up the pitch and we managed to win ourselves a short corner. As in previous games Cath Irvin and Linzi Webster combined for Cath to sweep a shot on target which bounced off the leg of the post defender, straight back into Cath's path who, on the second attempt, neatly flicked it into the goal. Kettering were in the lead again and this time wanted to hold onto it. Tamworth's number 3 gave us a few problems in defence but we managed to keep her at bay with some controlled tackling. We went into half time 2-1 up. After the break Kettering seemed to have a better time with passing play. We kept possession of the ball well as we worked our way up the pitch. However no other goals came from the game and Kettering earned their last 3 points of the season. There was lots to celebrate: finishing 4th in the league, having the best run of form from the last 5 games of any team in the league, and also having the best goals against record in the league. Laura Cave, Kettering's captain, is very proud of the teams performance this year. "Everyone single player has worked their hardest for the team and we all seem to have enjoyed our hockey. Couldn't be happier. Now they all deserve a good summer break."
