Kettering 2-2 Solihull Blossomfield

After last weeks emphatic first win of the season, Kettering were prepared to follow this up with another. As the game started, once again, Kettering found themselves on the front foot, piling pressure onto the Solihull defence. Kettering were unlucky to not go ahead within the first few minutes but were soon rewarded around the 10 minute mark as an excellent ball from Cath Irvin found Meg Forader in the opposition circle whose first shot was saved by the keeper, but Forader's reactions were quicker and she managed to smash the rebounded ball into the goal, giving Kettering a deserved lead. This goal should have given the away side the confidence to continue to press but as substitutions and changes started to happen Solihull found their way into the game and a lapse in concentration and communication allowed them to equalise.

Both sides started the second half well with both sides finding inconsistencies with some umpiring decisions which gave the game a frantic and scrappy feel. Solihull were the side to step up a gear and Kettering found themselves pinned in their half, unable to find the outlet ball. Some strong defending ensured that Solihull's pressure wasn't rewarded with a goal and against the run of play Jess Moricca found herself with the ball. From nowhere, Morrica's individual skill and determination resulted in a wonder goal from a shot taken at the top of the circle; no surprise that this saw Morrica gain player of the match. Whilst this gave Kettering a boost and saw the away side push further forward, they couldn't hold on to the lead and Solihull equalised in the last few minutes of the game.
