Kettering 0-3 Solihull Blossomfield
Kettering fail to blossom.
In the second game of their double header weekend, Kettering were keen to replicate yesterday’s success but unfortunately could not find the same fluidity.
Kettering started the game the brighter with the ball moving in to attack quickly, putting Solihull under initial pressure. However, tired legs quickly set in and it was Solihull who took the game by the scruff of the neck and pushed forward. Kettering managed to hold on for the first half due to some fine saves from player of the match, Stacy Hall in goal, who last put on a pair of kickers 16 years ago!!
As the second half started Solihull once again pressed forward and Kettering struggled to keep up with the skill and pace of some of their players. Bethany Lewis and Jess Austin put in a sterling performance in defence but even their efforts weren’t enough to stop Solihull from scoring in the end. The visiting side dominated the second half with Kettering becoming more and more frantic as the game progressed. Each goal conceded came from a scrap in front of the goal which was completely uncharacteristic from the home side. As time passed Kettering knew the game was out of their reach once the third goal was scored against them.
Next weekend the side travel to Belper and Stone for their penultimate games of the season.
