Nervy start turned into solid performance.

Kettering were kicking off their first league game against an unknown Telford & Wrekin side.
Kettering had a nervy start with Telford piling on the pressure and we couldn't seem to get our passing rhythm going. Telford pounced on this with an early goal.
This seemed to spur Kettering into action and we pushed forward. Some good play from Meg Forader down the right and Imogen Smith down the left meant we were starting to get chances on goal. However we went into half time 0-1 down. Second half Kettering again pushed forward being more organised in mid field. Player of the match, Cath Irvin, made some fantastic interceptions and runs through the middle supported by our tireless forwards and we managed to win a number of corners in a row. One of these rebounded off the keeper to fall to Laura Beacon who drove round the right hand side of the D, fed the ball to Harriet Goswell, who neatly pushed the ball reverse stick passed the keeper into the bottom left corner.
Again Kettering applied pressure but the Telford forwards were fast and skilfull and gave our defence some issues on the break. Telfords 2nd goal came from one of these breaks down our left and the midfield of Telford ran through for a 2 on 1 with the Kettering keeper. Kettering were dissappointed to give away an easy goal but pushed forward still, aided by Sophie Reynolds and Charlie Fowle in the middle of the pitch.
Half way through the 2nd half Emma Findlay at left back pushed up the pitch with the ball and a few moves landed the ball on the stick of Fowle who sweetly struck the ball to hit the right side back board. Cracking goal to bring Kettering level.
The rest of the game was end to end as the winning goal was trying to be found by both teans, with Kettering having the better chances. Great saves by both keepers kept the final score at 2-2.
