Kettering ladies were faced with a number of challenges this week travelling away with the bare 11, dealing with injuries and bracing the unbelievably hot weather. Unfortunately Kettering struggled to overcome these challenges this week.
Kettering held on for the first half as both sides made a number of basic errors with loose passes and poor structure on the pitch. Kettering were lucky not to concede during this half as Towcester penetrated their circle but failed to get away any clean shots.
Being 0-0 at half time but with fatigue setting in, and injuries coming to the forefront Kettering knew they needed to dig deep and do the basics right. This didn’t happen and Towcester picked up another loose pass in the centre of the pitch which quickly found it's way into the circle for an open player on the post to tap into the goal. The game was not going well for Kettering who conceded another two goals again from open play, once again due to loose passing and lack of communication on the field.
On the whole a really disappointing performance from Kettering who know they can play much, much better!
The ladies need to put this game behind them and prepare for a home fixture next week where hopefully a bit of home support will give them the lift they need.
