Kettering 2-0 England O65s
By Barry Coe
Kettering provide tough warm up for European Championships.
As part of the build up to their European Championship campaign England O65s played what has now become their traditional fixture against Kettering O50s. A game played over 4 twenty minute periods would ensure that England had a good work out. In last year's fixture Kettering saw little of the ball for long periods but this year with a few new players Kettering dominated the game from the off. The first half finished goalless but MIKE TANSER
was lively up front and was unfortunate not to score. The second stanza saw Kettering score their two goals, both through Mark Hawkins
following good work from Paul Brooker
and Ludo Roder respectively. Hawkins had a chase for an 'international' hat trick but his delicate lob came off the post. The rest of the game saw Kettering well on top and as their opponents tired Kettering could start to play the ball around safe in teh knowledge of a job well done. A terrific Tim McDowell
curry concluded the afternoon and players can now rest up over the summer before it all starts again unless skipper Tony Heath
organises another friendly with Bedford in the summer.
