3rds know how to tame a Dragon

A nil nil result was the outcome of the 3s first game of the season. With a newly rebuilt squad with only 5 members of last year team remaining in the line up it was going to take time to get to know each other on the pitch. The opposition was also an unknown as we had never played them before and we were expecting a tough match as this was Bourne Deepings 2nd team.
We commenced the day with a minutes silence in memory of Kate Drake-Lee and were determined to put in a good performance in her memory.

The game was certainly end to end with both goalkeepers making saves from the respective opposition. Lucy Mills was making marauding runs down the right wing with Immi Mitchell supporting her up front. Megan Newlyn had several attempts at goal throughout the match with the opposition goalkeeper making some excellent saves. Toni Hustwait had an acute deflection off of a Julia Telford crash ball saved by the keeper in the second half. Holly Clapham and returning player Laura Newlyn worked hard in defence with the support of the legend that is Jan Randle. The Jess' (Prestedge and Bedwell) worked hard in midfield alongside man of the match Lydia McCarrick. Neve Askew-McBride worked hard in defence and midfield only to suffer a knee injury in the game which are ruled her out of the rest of the game.

This was a hard fought competitive game played in a very good spirit and we look forward to a return fixture soon.
