You may be aware that there was a fire at the Sports Club ground late last night.
The headline photo, taken by a passenger on a passing train, shows the old cricket score box in the corner near the brook ablaze last night at around 945ish.
The Fire Brigade sent two tenders and although minimal damage was done to the rest of the site the old score box will have to be demolished. It is not known what caused the fire and it is unlikely to be investigated as damage/injury was minimal/none.. The Fire Brigade are on site this morning making it as safe as it can be but the building, or what is left of it, is structurally unsound and members should not go for a look around.

Arrangements are being made today for the building to be removed asap. You will be pleased to hear there was nothing of any particular value in the building so the club have incurred no real losses.
