Kettering Ladies 2nds travelled to Nottingham University to face their Ladies 2nd team. The home game before Christmas had seen Kettering well beaten and Kettering wanted to try and ensure they gave a better account of themselves. Kettering started well although under presssure they defended solidly with Nat Irons, Evie Wharf, Sue Russell and Michelle Tanser dealing with waves of attacks. Amy March in goal received the man of the match award as she commanded the goal area making numerous fine saves. Nottingham were fast, fit and young and were able to play the ball around to create chance after chance. They eventually got their breakthrough after 12 minutes and this was quickly followed by a second. By half time it was four. The second half started in much the same way and it was 12 minutes into the half before Nottingham scored again. Kettering’s response this time though was to attack immediately after the restart and when the ball fell to Jodie Barber from the Nottingham keeper’s pads, she fired home to give Kettering a deserved goal for their efforts. Nottingham however pushed forward and were able to find gaps to kill the game and make the final score 10-1.
