Kettering Ladies 2nds travelled to play local rivals Towcester 2nds in what normally are close games. Towcester took the lead early in the first half after Kettering gave away possession and were punished. Kettering then gave away a short corner for a foul outside the D resulting in a good strike from a Towcester to double their lead. Kettering got back in the game when a short corner of their own found Megan Newlyn who pushed the ball at goal with Mandy Starsmore-Young getting the final touch as it crossed the line. The second half saw good defending by player of the match Jessika Prestedge, who was making her debut and Beth Winfield, returning from injury. Kettering then won another short corner and Kirsty Smith fired home from the edge of the D to tie the scores. Kettering had chances to take the lead but were unable to take them and it was Towcester who eventually achieved this. With not much time left on the clock Kettering pushed forward to try and get the equaliser but again were sloppy in possession and Towcester confirmed the win with a fourth goal. Kettering host Wootton 2nds on Saturday at Bishop 10.00am start.
