Kettering 1-3 Daventry

With 4 teams and one pitch to play on, who had booked the 10 am slot at Daventry was a hotley contested affair before a whisle was even blown. As Daventry could confirm the booking, our game went ahead; with the added bonus of the umpire from the game that had been called off, Thank you Mr Umpire!
With the game time slightly altered due to the issues, the Kettering side started off with some excellent passing with returning player Alice Williams, Lin Leach and man of the match Georgie Jones delivering excellet balls to waiting wings of Meg Newlyn and Kiera Cox. This then fed the interchanging forwards of, debuton Lucy mutton, Immi Mitchell and Natalia Bednarczyk.When caught on the break, the Daventry team had the pace they needed, but captain Kate Metcalfe shepherded her backs well to ensure that an early goal was not conceeded. There was plenty of pressure on the back 4, consisting of Liz Metcalfe, janny Randle, Julia Telford and Claire Jones. The score line only altered after a series of short corners and then a player blocking the view of goalie Metcalfe to a deflect a rocket. Not to be out done, the Kettering side, who are relegated from this league, pushed forward and went shoping for a short corner. A beautifully injected ball was threaded to the off side post and the score line was level. Well played Alice!

After a team talk from Kate Randle the team were in excellent sprits going into the second half. It wasn't long until another goal was scored by the away side, but they soon got annoyed when the man marking stopped much more preasure. Another barrage of short corners saw the away side pick up another goal. Metcalfe was excellent in goal, unsurprisingly, taking on many two on one breaks, thwarting the home sides idead of a huge score line.

A fantastic game by every player, many of the youngsters will not be in the side next year, so one more game with them this season before they fly the well worn 3rd team nest. One more win??? COME ON LADIES!!
