Kettering 3s took on oundle 2s in a home fixture away at Wrenn school this week. Kettering started out on the front foot with some nice attacking play lead by player of the match Cath Irvin. Kettering opened the scoring in the first half when Maria Higgins applied the finishing touch to a well worked attacking move. Oundle did not have many attacking chances due to the defensive combination of Holly Clapham, Jan Randle, Laura Newlyn and Daisy-mai Crossman in goal. In the 2nd half Kettering continued to dominate. Kettering took advantage of oundle having a player sent off for 2 minutes after a foul and scored from a follow up to a short corner saved by the keeper with Lydia McCarrick pouncing on the rebound. Lydia went on to score her 2nd late in the half with a shot taken from the top of the circle after some tenacious work just outside the D.
Oundle made a late comeback and scoring a consolation goal in the dying moments in the game when Ketterings defensive concentration drifted and wafting at the ball was evident!
Overall a confident outing by Kettering 3s. Next week another trip to wrenn to take on Rushden and Higham.
