Another roller coaster loss to nemesis Cambridge City
Kettering lost to Cambridge City for the fourth time in 5 years as they went down 3-1 on penalties after battling to a 2-2 draw. The first half was fairly even with Cambridge probably just shading it despite some fine goalkeeping from Kate Metcalfe. The opening goal came on the stroke of half time to give the hosts a narrow lead. Kettering tied the game mid way through the second half when Linzi Webster scored from a broken down short corner but City quickly took the lead again. Kettering were well in the game and were pushing for an equaliser and with time running out Mandy Starsmore Young tied the game and we went to penalties. Although Metcalfe managed to save two Kettering were not clinical from the spot and fell to a 3-1 reverse. This means Kettering go into the plate.
