Match 1 – Kettering vs Long Buckby: 2-0 W
Match 2 – Kettering vs Rugby 2: 0-2 L
Match 3 – Kettering vs Welford: 6-0 W
Match 4 – Kettering vs Rugby 1: 3-1 W
Kettering’s first game of the day saw them win 2-0 despite only playing with 6 players, against an unlucky Long Buckby side. Kettering started well with some slick passes which led to Isaac and Jude converting 2 well worked goals. Long Buckby were unlucky not to find the goal towards the end of the game. Kettering defended well to keep the clean sheet.
Kettering’s second game was against a strong Rugby team, although Rugby seeming to dominate the majority of the game Kettering put up a fight and with some good defending kept out many Rugby attacks. Kettering also had chances of their own with Isaac bossing the right side of the pitch. Unfortunately for Kettering the Rugby defence was just too good.
The under 10s third game of the day saw a 6-0 win against Welford. Kettering had most of the ball in this game however Welford still had some good chances. Jude showed some great dribbling and finishing skills in this game which led to him finding the goal 5 times! The last goal was well worked from the whole pressing high up the pitch and the ball falling to Isaac in the D.
The last game of the day matched Kettering with another team from Rugby. As Kettering had lost another player, we had a very brave girl from the under 8s join us for the last game. Also, as Rugby had an extra player, they lent Kettering 1 to make the game 7vs7. Kettering went 3-0 up early on with some good pass and move hockey between the borrowed Rugby player and the Kettering forwards. Rugby continued to push for some much-needed goals which saw them score shortly after. Some great defending from the whole team kept a skilful Rugby team from scoring anymore making the final score 3-1.
