Kettering fielded one of their strongest U12 boys teams so far so there was high hopes for the tournament. There first match was against Wellingborough in which they came away with a 1-1 draw as they were just getting into the tournament. Secondly they beat Northampton Saints a fantastic 4-0 showing some great skill, pace and agility from the whole team. This was a fantastic team effort showing that they understood the game and had great special awareness when working as a team. The third game they drew once again 1-1 against a strong rugby team however they were capable of a win, then to finish off the morning they drew with Market Harborough. Even though goalkeeper Alistair Brooking didn't have too much to do throughout the tournament he did make some good saves and helped to support the team of: Charlie Hawkins, Hal Robinson (1), William Middleton, Freddie Drake-Lee (4), MD Jacobs and Monty McPhee (1). A big thank you to Mark Hawkins for managing the team today.

The girls started off the day feeling very determined and confident although lost out in a 4-0 defeat to Wellingborough as they were starting to understand their positions, Some great defending was demonstrated by Neve McBride and Kate Campbell with some great saves by Sophie Bennett. In the second game the girls fought really hard with Charlotte Lund running her socks off in midfield to constantly close down the opposition to resulting in a 0-0 draw against Northampton Saints. Towards the end of the tournament they started to tire but carried on putting in lots of effort and learning important rules such as short corners as they went on. Finally The played Rugby and unfortunately lost out to a 5-0 defeat however the team also including Holly Clapham, Emma Robinson, Jessica Bedwell and Erin Grant. Overall they have improved a lot since last time and I'm sure they will continue to get stronger.
