Boys- Our boys team came out on top taking first place against Northampton Saints (Kettering won 3-1), Welford (Kettering won 7-1) and Market Harborough (Kettering won 10-0). Some outstanding hockey was shown from our 9 players especially the sensational defending from Hal Robinson and William Middleton which almost stopped any opposition from accessing our defending half. Unfortunately this didn't give GK Alistair Brooking much to do but when he was needed on the odd break he made some fab saves. New player Samuel Tattersal make some fantastic runs down the wing supported by forward Monty McPhee and fellow midfielder Charlie Guyett. Many of the goal scoring opportunities came from strong runs by Charlie Hawkins and Freddie Drake-Lee, who both scored there fair share of goals. MD also worked tirelessly in centre midfield. Girls- Even though the girls were automatically through before playing they still had the opportunity to grab 1st place, they definitely did that! Once again our GK Sophie Bennett did not have much to do but was fantastic when needed alongside defenders Jessica Bedwell and Neve McBride; this helped the girls go on to beat both Market Harborough (5-0, Miranda 3, Becky 2) and Northampton Saints (4-0, Miranda 3, Meghan 1) confidently. Miranda Jackson worked well in midfield to create loads of scoring opportunities and both Becky Richardson and Meghan Griggs worked hard throughout. Maddie King worked well supporting Charlotte Lund and Emma Robinson in Midfield to move the ball up the pitch. The girls now are also heading to the midlands competition in Nottingham!
