U14s Field 3 teams

Emma Storey19 Feb 2017 - 17:51

All 3 teams travel to Northampton high school to come home with lots of goals to talk about.

Under 14 Boys-
Kettering played very well as a team winning both games (3-1 against Rugby and 6-1 against Welford). Archie Colwill was solid in defence linking the ball nicely into midfielder Tom Storey who played some fantastic crosses into the circle from tireless tracking back and sprinting into space. Ethan Smart worked hard upfront to keep possession and to trouble the oppositions defensive line. Ezra Cox made some lovely attacking runs into space linking the ball well to Jacob Tattersal who made some great striking opportunities. James Hogg and Adam Mills worked strongly in midfield throughout. Adams relentless work-rate quickly turned defensive moments into attacking opportunities. Shea Guilder played well in defence whilst Tom Hampton-Smith made some fantastic saves against Welford.

Under 14 Girls-
(whites): Our first match was against Towcester and we had a close fight for the win but unfortunately ended up 2-1 down with our brilliant goal scored by Anna Sigbodhla on the short corner pushed out. On the second match, when we played against our own team, we came out with an unlucky defeat however this didn't dampen our spirits. We battled on and came out with a 1-0 loss; considering we didn't have a goalkeeper we all did very well. Finally we ended our days competition by playing Rugby. In the past we have had a strong rivalry so it was all to play for. We ended up winning 2-1 with two great goals from Anna Sigbodhla and Harriet Drake- Lee.

(blacks): The tournament started for Kettering’s black team with a game against Towcester. The team played and worked together well leading to a win of 3-0. The second match was against Kettering’s white team, it was a close match but the blacks managed to get a win, 2-0 with goal scorers Holly Clapham and Imogen Smith. We worked well as a team with Anna Pringle saving some good goal opportunities and Amelia Farrington making some great runs up the pitch. The next game was against Rugby, and was very tight witgh the defence working hard: the forwards were getting into good space leading to a 2-2 draw, goal scorers were Amelia Farrington and Holly Clapham. The final game was quite hard work as the black team had just played three games in a row. However we still played well with the mid-field working hard throughout the match. Long Buckby managed to come away with a win of 3-1 (goal scorer- Holly Clapham. Overall the tournament went well with good wins against good teams

Thank You to Scott Mulligan, Nick Cusk, Dom Cusk, Sophie Smart and Michelle Tanser for leading the teams.
