Wonder goal from man of the match Joe Diaz Osbourne amoungst Goolkeeper yellow.

The game against Ely Started even both sides feeling each other out but Kettering lost concentration during a 10-minute period and conceded 3 goals all through Kettering’s own mistakes of giving the ball away in front of the D giving Ely great attacking positions. Ely’s goalkeeper and man of the match for my money was inspired throughout the game. Kettering finished the half with a flurry of short corners and hitting the back of the net twice, but one was too high and above the backboard and another not leaving the D before Neil Freeman striking into the goal.
At half time the emphasis was on improving our pass completion as it was shooting ourselves in the foot. Looking to clear the ball wide not straight down the middle to invite pressure.
The second half started in similar vein lots of effort, territory and a couple of short corners till Kettering made a short corner count from what was the worst push out of the game, missing its intended target and making its way to the ever green Tony Heath, who push the ball past the on rushing chaser and struck an accurate shot into the corner, 3-1 down but with fresh energy and belief a few moments later a counter attack sent the ball sent up to Curtis to receive the ball near half way line and on the half turn, dodging to robust shove from the Ely centre back slipped the ball down the right hand side for young Diaz-Osbourne who collected the ball with ease and then set his sights on terrorising the remaining Ely defence ghosting past a couple showing speed and close control approached the keeper from a tight angle, Diaz-Osbourne coolly and calmly waited for the keeper to go down and lift the ball over in to then net, a very good goal making it 2-3 to the away side and Kettering were back within touching distance. The goal was great reward for an industrious display by Joe. However some confusion the ensued with the umpire approaching the keeper and handing out a 5-minute yellow card, everyone trying to work out why. Turns out in the previous attack to the goal out keeper Stuart Mitchell took out the Ely attacker while through on goal, playing the advantage an Ely player took the shot, but it was cut out by a Kettering player advantage over, and this started the counterattack that Kettering scored from. In the 5 minutes down their Goalkeeper Kettering conceded 2 quick goals, even after this when restored to a full compliment Kettering came back into the game but could muster any further goals to reduce the deficit despite several short corners.
Some huge positives with Jamie Smith playing his first game for the club looking assured in possession and everyone is looking forward to his next outing.
Dexter Day and Thomas Smith showing courage and tenacity in the tackle.
Layton Paris and Joe Diaz-Osbourne energy and running at Ely defence.
The shot corners ratio being heavily in Kettering’s favour.
