So our final game of Summer League . It’s been a great first year for Supernovas, we’ve rotated 36 players, representatives from every team at Kettering, and every age! And it’s this mix of people and skills, but mainly the people that makes summer league so much fun and special. We will put two teams in next year, so that everyone gets more game time. (And less headache for me in rotating selection!). Overall we Played 7, Won 2, drew 2, lost 3 so not a bad return for the first year (and with chopping and changing teams so much every week) Scored 11, conceded 13 (9 of which were conceded in 2 games and most unfortunately for me scored by my son who hasn’t let me forget it) 9 different goal scorer for us, with Harry and Ben J top scoring with 2.
So our final game saw us take a first half led through a lovely team goal scored by Isabelle. Unfortunately we couldn’t add to this, mainly because (and I’m pretty sure I mentioned it once or twice during the game) no one committed to the back post and several cross goal opportunities were missed because no one was there. With the minutes ticking by it took an individual bit of skill by one of the opposition at the top of the D and a superb strike to level the game. And that’s how it finished.
A big thank you and shout out to our umpires, Sam, Nick and Dom, it may seem like we may not always agree with your decisions when on the pitch but we do really appreciate your time and commitment, so again a massive thank you. (Although Nick time don’t be so obliging to the opposition and stand in for their umpire, as this was their goal scorer and he was supposed to be umpiring last night!)
