Pre season is all about brushing off the cobwebs etc. Everyone says the score doesn’t matter it’s all about the performance etc etc
That’s all well and good until you make a rare mistake that leads to a goal that costs your team are potential hard earned 1-0 victory.
Hands up, yours truly made a schoolboy error second half when an innocuous cross squirmed (I’m being kind) under my foot, thus taking all the pace off it for a far post tap in. Shocker. Sorry everyone. Annoyed barely covers it.
Kettering, with a much changed squad due to unavailability and injuries played reasonably well and deservedly went ahead mid way through the first half when Adam Mills fired home. A well deserved goal to cap a fine all round performance. A few short corners to Kettering came and went with little to show for them.
In fact, Leicester’s goal was rather against the run of play in the second half as Kettering generally controlled possession and territory, apart from the two sitters Leicester missed at the far post.
The youngsters got some much needed match practice in the 2s and the older players did indeed blow off the cobwebs.
It all starts in earnest next week with City of Peterborough 4 visiting Fortress Bishop for the graveyard shift game at 4pm. All supporters very welcome and if anyone fancies sponsoring by far the best looking most social team in the club we are feeling a little unloved. It’s only £300!
