A clean sheet? I donut believe it!

Finally; Kettering's first clean sheet - in the last game of the season! Having to make an early morning trip to the Fens made the KM2s desperate to win - along with wanting revenge for the pasting they took in the snow last season. With renowned danger man Lee Paris making his 2nd team debut, Kettering were confident of goals - it was a matter of keeping out a wily Wisbech team...
The game began. The first-half came and went. Literally nothing happened. Both teams were pretty average. 0-0 at the break.
The second-half began; having not conceded yet, Kettering (and more specifically Mikey) were beginning to smell the long-sought-after doughnuts. Kettering had emerged from the break a different beast: smart, slick and skilful - gone were the listless long-balls of the first-half. Wisbech, however, were unchanged: stoic in defence, but missing a spark, overall. Before long, Kettering's intelligent play paid off; great runs and passes by Jack Bridges and Ben York left Paris with the ball in the 'D'. 0-1. Paris then bagged a much needed second. His class in the 'D' was really showing. Then, to everyone's dismay, Max Foster scored - a short corner that crept in the bottom-right corner. He was delighted - his first goal for Kettering (if that isn't counting all the times he gifted the ball to an opposition centre forward throughout the season - in those situations he might as well have put it in himself!) The game petered on. Paris nearly scored a debut hat-trick after a series of aerial balls by Michael Lavender and Ollie Smith, but the Wisbech keeper somehow saved his shot. A scare came for Kettering when Wisbech seemed to find their form, but great defending by the back 4/2/3/whatever its meant to be kept the opposition's score at a big fat zero. The Kettering defence were protecting their clean sheet like it was a new-born child. All except for Mikey, who was more than happy to let Archie, Millsy and Max clean up for him. The final whistle blew, heralding the end of the game and the end of the season, but happily not the end of Kettering's time n the league. After a very shaky middle-patch, Kettering have put on an overall performance that is nothing to be ashamed of. Who knows what next season holds!
