Still learning the new formation Kettering played well to come out with the win.

The second outing for the new-look Kettering Ladies 1s proved again to be a positive one.
This being a tougher test to last week would start to show up any weaknesses we had.
We started well putting a lot of pressure on our opposition with some great runs through the defence from Sophie Reynolds and Toni Hustwait, but soon realised the midfield of Bourne Deeping were skilful and very quick.
We managed to win some short corners but nothing came of these. We finally broke the deadlock with skipper Laura Beacon making a run into the D to reverse stick pass to Imogen Smith who neatly pushed the ball past the left foot of the keeper. A well worked opening goal.
Unfortunately this lead didn't last too long as Beacon became the villain, firstly giving away a short corner, and then being too quick off the line and she was sent to the half way line. The resulting corner was hit home by the opposition to make the score 1-1 at half time.
The second half was very even between the two sides. Good midfield performances by Imogen Smith and Cath Irvin meant we held firm against a quick opposing midfield. The defence seeming a lot more organised this week did some good work together as a unit to keep out the advancing attackers. Gracie Gault again impressed and was solid in her new role at wide back. Daisy-mai Crosswell in goal made some fantastic stops to keep us in the game. Some great runs down the wings were made by Sophie Richardson and Meg Forader to keep the pressure on our opposition and we made more chances as the game went on.
Again we won a few short corners this half and this time managed to make one work. The ball came out to Liz Metcalfe at the top of the D who neatly passed right to Laura Beacon, redeeming herself slightly, by hitting the ball into the goal through the legs of the keeper.
The game finished 1-2 to Kettering Ladies who were glad to come away with a win from such an even game.
Still lots to work on but the team seems to be coming together now and the new players are settling in nicely.
An even tougher challenge lays in wait next week.
