Another fab results for the ladies first to compound a great start to the season. Kettering hoped to execute the chances they failed to last week at Peterborough … and that they did! However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing after Wisbech were first to add to the score sheet. However this didn’t deter Kettering who improved as the game went on with strong linking play between Eva, Millie and Becky up the left. These periods of dominate pressure allowed Kettering to push up so Ellie and Lucy could positively position themselves to best advantage the team. You could feel a goal coming, which it did after Michelle fired the ball into the backboard from a nice one two with Eva at a short corner. Kettering were able to deal efficiently with any breakthrough from Wisbech with Sophie making some amazing saves and Michelle, Molly, Eleanor and Isla successfully transferring the ball to remove the threat. Half time and the score was 1-1 with the win to play for. Kettering were able to start strongly again pushing up the pitch and pinning the ball in the attacking half. Lucy and Connie worked well together in tandem with strong leading runs, however it was Ellie who was the one out of the trio of forwards that clenched the win with a calm and collected goal after stunning play up the left from Ilana and Cath. From that point forward Kettering defended til the whistle with everyone getting back and marking. Kettering were able to see out the win . Congratulations to Connie and Millie for their first team debuts with a positive start. Man of the match went to Isla for some strong runs up the right.
